There now, I’ve gone and done it.

I bought a pair of Birkenstocks. I haven’t had Birkenstocks since I was a badly dressed teenager.

I also haven’t owned shorts since then, but now have three pair in rotation.

This all is very suspect.

Just wanted to mention that I called this in April. I want a pair of baby blue ones.

Mesmerized by this new Dior video, “Secret Garden,” shot at the Palace of Versailles and featuring the fashion house’s Fall 2012 collection.

The Business of Fashion recently put together a list of the Top 10 Fashion Films of the Season.  I tend to have limited desire to watch short videos online (though I watch TV almost exclusively through Hulu) — but I am a big fan of the video marketing trend in high-end fashion.  Video is an obvious fit for fashion, which is all about movement.

Reuters | A love story that sparked a fashion empire

Mention the name Missoni, and most think of a fashion empire that revolutionized textile patterns, spawned the no-bra look on the catwalks, and is now a global brand that designs everything from sweaters to sheets to hotels.
But none of it would have happened had it not been for the 1948 London Olympics, where one kind of flame sparked another between Rosita Jelmini and Ottavio Missoni.

A recent trip to Madrid left me enamored of Zara. I originally believed these Yorkie-print shorts to be a frivolous use of 40 euro (about $52), so I returned them to the rack at the Serrano store, only to find myself continuing to think about them after I’d returned to the States. End result: Purchased on Newbury Street in Boston for $59.99.  Trying to be sensible cost me $7.99.

Anyway, my friend Emily says the rule of thumb for how much you should spend on something is that you need to wear it often enough that it amounts to $3 or less per wear. I think I’m OK.
